Meet Dr. Quitmeyer
Dr. Aaron Quitmeyer is a board certified Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon. He completed his undergraduate studies at Macalester College in St. Paul, Minnesota as a scholar athlete. While earning his Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology with an emphasis in Immunology and Cellular Biology, he played varsity football, being twice selected as team captain and first team all-conference.
Dr. Quitmeyer continued his education at the University of Minnesota School of Dentistry and where he received his Doctor of Dental Surgery Degree and graduated with honors. He was inducted into the National Dental Honor Society, Omicron Kappa Upsilon.
After graduating dental school, Dr. Quitmeyer earned a commission in the United States Navy and completed an Advanced Education in General Dentistry residency in Okinawa, Japan, were he practiced general dentistry for two years. Dr. Quitmeyer was selected into the highly competitive Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery program and graduated from the Naval Medical Center Portsmouth, Virginia where he served as chief resident.
Following residency, Dr. Quitmeyer served as the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon onboard the aircraft carrier USS Harry S. Truman (CVN 75). He then became the Associate Program Director of the prestigious National Capital Consortium (NCC) Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Residency program at the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, MD, where he taught OMS residents the full range of surgical procedures of the specialty. While stationed at the President’s hospital, Dr. Quitmeyer provided care in a multi-specialty environment for complex implant based maxillofacial reconstruction and restoration of wounded warriors, service members, and their families. It was during this time that he developed a passion for virtual surgical planning utilizing the latest digital technologies to provide the highest quality surgical treatments. His surgical experience while in the Navy was focused heavily on orthognathics, dental implants, TMJ surgery, and facial cosmetics/reconstructive surgery. He is among only about ten percent of all Virginia Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons who are licensed and credentialed to perform facial cosmetic surgery.
Dr. Quitmeyer is a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and a Fellow of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons. Dr. Quitmeyer is also an active member of the American College of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, American Dental Society of Anesthesiology, Academy of Osseointegration, American Dental Association, Middle Atlantic Society of Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, Virginia Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, and the Virginia Dental Association.
Dr. Quitmeyer is proud to be calling the Shenandoah Valley home after a rewarding 10-year career in the United States Navy Dental Corps.
Dr. Quitmeyer is a board certified oral and maxillofacial surgeon who enjoys practicing the full scope of the specialty. He holds privileges at Sentara RMH Medical Center. His special interests include dental implants, dentoalveolar surgery, corrective jaw surgery, and treatment of tempromandibular joint disorders, and outpatient anesthesia.
